So… we are starting the year off very ambitiously. I have a modest 11 books on my TBR for the first month of the year. Let’s get started!
Category 1: Carry-overs
These are the books I was reading at the end of the year but didn’t manage to finish in time. As I am always reading one book in every format at the same time we have three
- Hollowpox by Jessica Townsend
- Middlemarch by George Elliott
- Warbreaker by Brandon Sanderson
Category 2: My randomly chosen books form my Goodreads TBR
I randomly generate 3 numbers every month that correspond to a list I compiled before the year began. Some of the numbers appear in a bingo roster. When I get Bingo I make a new list of 75 books + the numbers 76 till 90, don’t appear in the roster but I get to choose what I read for that.
- 17: The Wide Window by Lemony Snickett
- 31: The song of Achilles by Madeline Miller
- 77: I could choose any book between the numbers of 1 and 15 and I choose The 13 1/2 lives of Cap’tain Blueber by Walter Moers
Category 3: My Bookopoly books
Every month I roll five times and go around a Monopoly board I made that gives me a reading prompt at every game space. When I roll double, I add an extra book. I try to fit the Goodreads books in as best as I can.
- 12 (double): an ebook -> The song of Achilles by Madeline Miller
9: First in a series -> The 13 1/2 lives of Cap’tain Blueber by Walter Moers - 9: random color (light green) -> The Testaments by Margaret Atwood
- 6: chance -> A Dark Queen Rises by Ashok K. Bankor
- 8 (double): least popular -> A Whole New World by Liz Braswell
4: Foiled cover -> Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir - 7: Husband Picks -> The colorless Tsukuru Tazaki and his years of pelgrimage by Haruki Murakami
As you see I wasn’t able to fit in one of the books from the previous category and I rolled two doubles which adds a wooping three extra books to my TBR.
This is starting off very ambitiously. As I was only able to find one of these in audiobook and one in ebook format, I will have to read most of them physically, which is going to be a challenge, I am not going to lie.
